Easy and Frugal Yellow Mushroom Rice | Budget Friendly Recipe

Remember the rice I told you about in Top Food Items You Should Buy at Dollar Tree? This easy recipe uses that delicious rice as the base which means no additional seasonings are needed from you. Score!

For $2 you can have a side dish for dinner that serves 5+ people in no time. It’s perfect for large busy families on a budget like us.

Ingredients

Step 1

In a medium pot with a lid, bring your water to a boil.

Step 2

Once your water is boiling, add you olive oil and the entire package of rice.

Step 3

Continue boiling for 1 minute, stirring the entire time.

Step 4

Next, cover your pot with the lid and reduce the heat to simmer.

Step 5

Continue cooking for 15-20 minutes.

Step 6

While your rice is cooking, strain the liquid off of your mushrooms.

Step 7

After your rice has simmered for 15-20 minutes, stir in your strained mushrooms.

Step 8

Resume simmering for another 5-10 minutes.

Step 9

Remove your pot from the heat.

Fluff the rice and serve hot.

Super Cheap Homemade Large Pepperoni Pizzas

My family loves pizza. I’m convinced the kids would eat it every night if I’d let them. Leaving aside how unhealthy that is, it is also expensive. Enter Dollar Tree.

With the Dollar Tree we can get the ingredients for 2 large thin-crust pepperoni pizzas for less that five dollars. That feeds all 5 of us easily and when your grocery budget is only $200 a month, that’s important.

Alright, let’s get to the recipe!

Ingredients

Step 1

First, preheat your oven to 425° Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Next, open one of your thin pizza crusts and place it on a round pizza pan.

Now open your pasta sauce and spoon a generous amount onto your pizza crust.

Step 4

Spread your sauce to cover the entire crust using the bottom of your spoon (the rounded side).

Step 5

Next, sprinkle half of your cheese over the pizza crust.

Lastly, cover your pizza with half of your package of pepperoni.

Step 7

Bake your pizza at 425° F. for 12 to 15 minutes.

Step 8

Remove your pizza from the oven and cool for 2-3 minutes before cutting and serving.

Step 9

Repeat steps 1 through 8 for your second pizza.

These are seriously easy to make and the family loves it. I like to serve them with a salad to add some veggies but they are delicious on their own as well. You can store your crusts in the freezer until you are ready to make them making it easy to stock up for multiple dinners.
