Now, on the one hand, she has an awesome pool with a giant deck and we do not. On the other hand, how sad is it that our yard was one of the selling points for us choosing our house and we never use it?
This year I’m on a mission to change that. Unfortunately, after a year or so of disuse, the backyard is looking a little a lot drab. That’s why I’m so excited about the first ever Way Day!
Key Components For Backyard Entertainment

- This can be as simple as placing a fire pit in the center of some chairs. Create a gathering area where friends and family can hang out (and warm up if needed). You can also look into a set of corn hole boards, badminton net, or similar outdoor games.
Kids Zone
- Don’t forget about your tiny human guests when planning your backyard oasis. While you might be perfectly content to kick back in the hammock, you can bet kiddos will not. Why not give them a little corner of the yard to call their own?
- It doesn’t have to be a giant swing set. Instead, try a container full of outdoor toys like balls, bubbles, and play kitchen wares. This will give them hours of enjoyment.
Bonus Tip:
- Add a rug inside the back door for people to clean their shoes off on. Undoubtedly guests will be coming in and out of the house. A rug will help cut down on the dirt and yuckiness tracked through your house.
