DIY Dragonfly Fingerprint Succulent Planters

Every year we love surprising the grandmas with a handmade gift from the kiddos. The kids love making it and grandma delights at the surprise. This year we made these adorable DIY dragonfly fingerprint succulent planters. They are easy to make and your kiddos will love getting messy with paint. (Just don’t forget to put on their aprons or shirt to protect their clothes.) A little tip to make the process easier: give each kid and extra pot and some paint then let them go nuts. This will keep them from getting impatient waiting to add their fingerprints to the planters.

These DIY dragonfly fingerprint succulent planters were such a blast to make! The youngest got upset that green paint got on his hands which made it even more adorable. Don’t forget to give your kids a pot to paint to keep them entertained while they wait to put their fingerprints on. This saved my life during this project. This is also a great DIY for moms if teachers or dads want to get in on the artistic action. You can get more fun Mother’s Day ideas with these Kid Made Mother’s Day Storybooks. Free Printable Room by Room Cleaning Checklists

How are you coming with your new habits this month? I haven’t quite gotten my routine down but I have been sticking to cleaning every day. It is so nice to have a clean home, especially our kitchen and dining room. What is it about these rooms that make them a magnet for messes? Now, I’ve managed to stay on top of the dishes and the kids have been helping with the dining room. One of the best tools I have been using is these printable room by room cleaning checklists for each room! They make it easy to keep track of all of the weekly cleaning tasks for each room of your home.

Get Your Printable Room by Room Cleaning Checklists

Grab your free printable cleaning checklists by clicking on the pictures below and print them out. Once you’ve printed them, cut each one out and fill out any additional cleaning tasks not already listed. There is also a blank one to add another room such as your office or the kids’ play room. I totally recommend laminating the cleaning checklists and storing them in the rooms they coordinate with. You can check the tasks off as you complete them with a dry erase marker and wipe it clean when you’re done.

How to Use Printable Room by Room Cleaning Checklists

You can clean these areas on these lists every day if you would like. I am not that ambitious, though. Instead, I have added one room each day to my daily cleaning list. There are some tasks that need to be done every day to stay on top of your home. Here are the tasks on my daily cleaning list:

That “one room” on the list is one of the printable room by room cleaning checklists. Assign one room to each day. The only exception to this for my list is that I clean all of the bedrooms on one day but that is up to you.

Room by Room Cleaning Kits

The next step is to create cleaning kits for each room. You can easily clean the rooms when all of the supplies you need is together. I’ll show you how to make these next week but you can go ahead and start preparing now. Pick up sponges, dusters, and cleaners for each room so that you can put them together. You can also start brainstorming where in each room you will store you cleaning kits. If needed, you can re-organize slightly to accommodate them.

I want to leave you with one last tip. I have a friend that have been telling me for years that one person can’t expect to be able to clean up after 5 people and she is so right. She always says this to make me feel better when I’m falling behind on housework. What I didn’t realize was that I was making one huge mistake and you might be making the same one. I am not responsible for cleaning up after my family single-handedly and neither are you. Start enlisting your kids to help you. I finally realize that I am not giving my kids enough responsibility around the house. They expect that I will handle everything. This month all of that is finally changing. Let your kids be a part of creating a clean home that you’re proud of. Even toddlers can, and should, help around the house. What are your tips for keeping a clean home? I’d love to hear them in the comments!
