Step 1

First, pick a colorful post-it note. You want one that will be pretty as a keychain and that goes well with your teal cording.

Step 2

Next, press your child’s thumb onto the ink pad.

Step 5

Next, cut out the traced rectangle.

Tips:

  • Cut on the inside of the traced lines.
  • The first cut-out will be too big for the inside of your charm. Continue trimming small amounts off until it fits.

There you have it. This DIY personalized tassel keychain is a great gift idea but you might want to make one for your keys, too! The bonus is that kids absolutely love stamping their thumbprints… possibly a little too much. I may or may not have caught them with my ink pad putting their thumbprints on everything! Even with that unfortunate little sidebar, these were a blast to make! If you want to incorporate all of your kids on one keychain you can change things up by adding a small photo of them in place of the thumbprints. Make Fitness a Habit with a DIY Daily Workout Sticks System

This month’s Create Your Future post is later than normal, as you may have noticed. The editorial calendar for this month is crazy packed, as noted by the fact that it is only the 8th and already this will be the 6th post brought to you. Crazy, I know, and it’s not slowing down any time soon. However, this one is worth the wait. Welcome to the first Create Your Future post with a tutorial! I can’t believe that we have been doing this for nearly a year and there hasn’t been the need for you to make something before now. Since you know how much I absolutely adore DIY (it’s kind of my thing) it is surprising. No more, though, because this month we are focusing on how to develop a fitness habit and this DIY daily workout sticks system is just the tool for the job!

Step 8

Next, on the opposite end of the popsicle sticks repeat steps 1 through 3 in a second color. For this side, I chose pink.

Tip:

  • Use the previous outlines as a guide to measure as pictured above.

Step 10

Lastly, write exercises and reps on the blank side of your popsicle sticks.

Step 11

Put your daily workout sticks in a container “M” side up.

How to Use Your Daily Workout Sticks System

Each morning start with your daily workout sticks “M” side up. Choose 3 and perform them as your morning workout. After you have finished put all of the sticks back in the container flipped to the “E” side. Then, in the afternoon or evening, choose 3 more for your second workout. Once you have finished, return them to the container and turn all of your sticks back to the “M” side for the next morning.

As you become more accustomed to working out you can increase the intensity by drawing more sticks for each workout. You can also do so by increasing the number of repetitions that you do of each exercise. This easy DIY truly grows with you as your strength and stamina increase. DIY Glow Can Toss

Holy cow, how are we on our fifth glow-in-the-dark game already? If summer break is starting to stress you out, though, you are going to love this one. It is not only fun but also a healthy and slightly covert way to take out your frustration. DIY glow can toss lets you whip a Frisbee at a bunch of cans for the explicit purpose of knocking them down. How cathartic is that? Of, and there’s also a bonus for you moms with little ones: toddlers LOVE re-stacking the cans so you don’t even have to reset them! This is pretty much the perfect game to whip out on those moms days when you’re ready to pull your hair out.

Step 1

Cover each of your clean cans in a different color of acrylic paint. I used red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple paint each mixed with white to brighten them up.

Step 2

Allow the paint to dry completely.

Step 3 (Optional)

Put a second coat of paint on your cans if you would like. I chose not to but if you do, allow the paint to dry before moving on.

Step 4

Next, add glow paint to the grooves on your cans.

Step 5

Allow the paint to dry.

Tip:

  • Fabric paint will take longer to dry than your acrylic paint.

Step 6

After your glow paint has dried, spray your cans with clear engine paint. This will make sure that the paint stands up to repeatedly being hit with your glow Frisbee.

How to Play Glow Can Toss

Set Up: Align your glow cans in a pyramid. Be sure to charge them (and your glow Frisbee) with light before playing. Next, mark spots on the ground for the different levels. Spots should be marked at the following intervals:

  • 3 Feet
  • 6 Feet
  • 9 Feet
  • 12 Feet

Game Play: The game is played by players taking turns tossing the glow Frisbee at the cans from each distance. The cans should be reset after each toss. For example, player 1 tosses the Frisbee from 3 feet away. The player gets a point for every can that is knocked down. The cans are then reset and player 2 tosses the Frisbee from 3 feet. Play continues in this way until each player has tossed the Frisbee from each distance.

Winning the Game: The winner of the game is the player with the most points at the end of the last round.

DIY glow can toss is also fantastic because there is no limit to the number of players. While it might take a while to get through the rounds you could essentially have a hundred people playing. Make a couple of sets and you are ready to keep people entertained at parties, family reunions, or summer camps. Pair it with some of the other glow games like glow stick tag and giant backyard glow pong for an awesome, over-the-top summer bash. Don’t forget to check back next week for the sixth glow game in our summer series!
