The original plan for this project was to make glow in the dark crayon rings but the execution did not work. The glow powder did not work in the crayons and the rings fell apart quickly, if they even made it out of the molds.

Messy crayon rings

Oh well… the best laid plans, right? Plan B was acrylic and they turned out great! They aren’t as fun as the crayons in my opinion but the kids still love them. I’m putting that in the win column.

Materials

Ring Molds in Package

Silicone Ring Molds

Step 1

First, get your rings molds out of the packaging so that you can access them easily even with gloves on.

Step 2

Next put on your protective gloves. You don’t want to get the resin solution on your hands.

Step 3

Now pull out 5 small plastic cups and 5 popsicle sticks.

Step 4

Select your 5 mica powder colors (purple, yellow, orange, blue, and green) and open them. Don’t put them into the cups yet but you want them open so you can add them to your resin solution as soon as it’s mixed.

Acrylic Solution in Cups

Step 5

Next, mix small amounts of your resin solution in each cup according to the package directions. I used one teaspoon of each component in each cups. 2 teaspoons is more than enough solution for one ring.

Green acrylic solution in cup

Step 6

As soon as your resin solution is mixed, add 1/2 a package of one mica powder color to each cup and mix thoroughly.

Step 7

Next fill each ring mold with one of your colors.

Tips:

Step 8

Set your filled molds in a safe place to cure for at least 24 hours.

Step 9

After your rings have cured for 24 hours, remove them from your molds and continue to cure an additional 48 hours.

Step 10

If necessary, you can gently file and buff your rings before wearing.

These DIY glowing Avengers infinity stone rings are so much fun in the dark. Unfortunately, the purple one didn’t turn out. I think somehow the solution ratio got messed up because even after 3 days in the mold it didn’t set up. Let that be a warning to make sure you mix your solution parts exactly.

The kids tried to talk me into letting them take a bath with just these rings as lights, but I’m not quite brave enough for that mess. For now, they’ll have to settle for dueling it out in their rooms at night!

Now, let’s see all of the projects and recipes my friends created this month!

These is no way I am the only person in the world who can’t seem to keep her car clean. Sometimes it feels like the trash is spawning in your vehicle (especially after my husband drives it).

Even worse? Go on a road trip with 3 small kiddos and you will have no doubt that you need this DIY car trash can, espiecially if you’ve got one of Honda’s new cars for families. Don’t want to get that messy! Take it from someone who loves random road trips on the fly.

Life is messy, especially for busy moms on the go. Keep your vehicle clean and organized with this easy-to-make DIY car trash can!

Materials

Step 1

First, pull off any loose pieces of packaging, like the label. This keeps your duct tape from coming off of your container.

Step 2

Next, remove the lid from your container.

Step 3

Now, use your container as a guide and cut your Velcro slightly larger than the bottom of your container.

Step 6

Next, cover your lid with duct tape. Do this separately from your container so that you can take it off and put it back on as needed. You don’t want an open trash can floating around your van.

Step 7

Lastly, place in a plastic grocery bag inside of your DIY car trash can, return the lid, and Velcro to the floor of your van.

This was so easy to make that I went ahead and made one for hubs too! Of course, I can’t promise that he’ll use it but that’s an entirely different story.

Bonus Tip:

Put a couple of empty bags in the bottom before placing the last one as your trash bag. That way, if you empty your trash on the go, you have a replacement bag ready to go.

We love sitting out by the fire, having water balloon fights, and a myriad of other fun backyard games. In recent years, I’ve also made it my personal mission to create unique new games for our family to play. That’s how this fun new game came to be and we already love it!

After you have taped your O plates, spray the bottom of them with your second spray paint color.

Step 6

Allow your paint to dry completely before moving on.

Step 7 (Optional)

After your spray paint has dried, flip your plates over and spray the opposite side of your plates. Do this in the corresponding colors.

While your second coat of paint dries, paint a large tic-tac-toe board directly onto your yard with your spray chalk paint.

Game Rules

The rules of DIY giant backyard frisbee tic-tac-toe are the same as traditional tic-tac-toe with one twist. You can use your frisbees to knock another players frisbee from the space you need. The only exception is, of course, if the player has achieved 3 in a row. The first player to get 3 in a row is the winner!

Once you’re done with your DIY giant backyard frisbee tic-tac-toe game, use a tote bag to store the frisbees and spray chalk paint. This is the perfect way to keep it together and organized until the next time you play.

This game is also easy to transport. Simply grab your tote bag and go. The spray chalk paint doesn’t hurt the grass and washes away easily. It makes this the perfect game for barbecues, family reunions, and other outdoor parties!
