- Plastic Formula Container
- Black Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brush
- Stickles (Gold or Crystal)
- Fine Gold Glitter
- Acrylic Sealant
- Printable “Favorite Memories” Cards
First, remove all packaging from your formula container and clean it thoroughly.
Then paint the lid of your container black.
- Open you lid slightly during this stage, otherwise the paint will pull off when you open it after it dries.
Next, paint the bottom of your container black.
Let your paint dry before moving on.
After your acrylic paint has dried, freehand write the words “Family Time Capsule” with Stickles.
Next, cover your words with gold glitter.
Very gently tap as much excess glitter off of your container as possible.
- I cannot stress enough to be gentle during this step or you can mess up your lettering.
Allow your Stickles and glitter to dry completely.
Next, carefully brush the remaining excess glitter off of your container.
After you have removed all of the excess glitter, seal your container with a coat of acrylic sealant.
Allow your sealant to dry then spray with a second coat of sealant.
While your sealant dries, print out the “Favorite Memories” cards.
Lastly, cut out your cards.
On New Years Eve this year, have family and friends fill out your cards with their favorite memories and place them in the family New Years time capsule. Next year, pull out the cards and take turns reading what everyone wrote as a family. Then fill the capsule with new memories for the following year. This new tradition is a great way to reflect on the good of the previous year and see how much kiddos have grown. There is no way you won’t learn more about each other each year, bringing you closer as a family. A family New Years time capsule is a great kid-friendly activity to enjoy together each year. I’m a nerdy, crafty mom of three adorable little kids. I love writing and creating, but in my non-existent free time I also love karaoke, taking my kids to the zoo, and reading. I got my degree in Science (no idea how that happened) but I took every English class I could get my hands on because, yeah, I’m that girl.
