This is such a super fun way to have some quality craft time with the kids and make something moms will love to get! Part of what I love about projects like this is how excited my kids get when their grandmothers open these handmade creations. They can’t wait to tell them all about it and these are the memories that they will carry with them long after they have their own kids. Besides, it’s fun to play with paint (even if it gets messy).

Piece of styrofoam with center cut out

Step 1

First, cut out the flat part of the Styrofoam veggie container.

Tips:

Blue paint on foam stamp

Step 4

After they have finished their designs, apply paint to the foam design. You can do this with a foam brush or you can let the kids do it with their fingers. It simply depends on how big of a mess you want to clean up.

Step 5

Next, stamp the painted design onto the front of the card. Do this for as many cards as you need (adding paint as needed). Then rinse off the foam with hot water. The best part is that you can save it and reuse it as many times as you want.

Step 6

You can write a message on the inside of the card, or if your child is writing have him personalize it with his own message.

This year I’m on a mission to send more cards just because. In 2012 I received a card that had a Hello Kitty Pez Dispenser in it. The card was from my husband’s cousin, who I had only met a handful of times. She had seen the Pez Dispenser while out at the store and thought of me. It was such a kind gesture that sticks with me to this day. Imagine something as simple as a card having that kind of impact on someone’s life. How could you not want to spread that kind of joy? These DIY floral note cards are a wonderful way to do that.

Step 3

Attach the hot pink cardstock inserts to the inside of the scalloped pink striped cards with your glue runner.

Step 4

Then attach the light blue cardstock inserts to the inside of the scalloped orange cards.

Step 5

Next, add rub-on words in the oval opening on the front of each card.

Tip:

  • If your words are on the same sheet, cut them apart before rubbing them on. This keeps you from accidentally adhering the words you are not working with to the card.
