DIY Glow-In-The-Dark TARDIS Boxers with Free Printable

06.16.2015 by Marie // Leave a Comment

Are you married to a Dr. Who fan?  I’m super proud to say I have successfully converted my husband and he has been watching it every chance he gets lately.  I really wanted to make him a themed gift for Father’s Day and I also wanted something with just a hint of spice.  Our husbands want to be reminded that we think they’re gorgeous and Father’s Day is a great time to do that.

What better way to say, “I think you’re even hotter as a dad” than with these awesome DIY glow-in-the-dark Tardis boxers?

These Glow-in-the-dark Tardis boxers are the perfect gift for the nerd in your life (or make a pair for you)!

Materials

  • Solid Color Boxers (turns out this can be extremely difficult so I’ve done the leg work for you)
  • Printable Iron-On Transfer Paper for Darks
  • Letter Stickers (color doesn’t matter because you’re just using them for templates)
  • Glow-In-the-Dark Fabric Paint
  • Free Tardis Printable

These Glow-in-the-dark Tardis boxers are the perfect gift for the nerd in your life (or make a pair for you)!

Step 1

Print out the Tardis picture on your iron-on transfer paper.

Step 2

Cut out the picture and prep your boxers by ironing them flat before transferring the picture.

Step 3

Remove protective backing from iron-on transfer paper and place where wanted on boxers.

Step 4

Cover with some sort of protective covering such as parchment paper or another piece of fabric.

** Tip: For best results use parchment paper because it won’t stick to the design.

Step 5

Remove covering and allow the boxers to cool.

Step 6

Place the outline part of the letter stickers on the boxers to spell “It’s Bigger on the Inside” and then paint with glow-in-the-dark paint.  Allow paint to dry completely and you’re done!

** Tip: To help the fabric paint stay, once the paint has dried put in your dryer on medium heat for a full cycle.  This helps to set the paint.

DIY Decorative Napkin Basket

05.29.2015 by Marie // Leave a Comment

When spring and summer roll around the state of your outdoor decor gets a harsh light thrown on it. The ravages of winter made it easy to forget your ever-growing to-do list for you deck, garden, and yard. I recently scored these awesome shallow, square baskets at a thrift store 4 of them for $1 and I immediately knew what I wanted to do with them.  We entertain a lot in the summer and I wanted a cute little basket that could go on the outdoor table to hold napkins.  Add these baskets to my amazing Hazel & Ruby stencil clearance find and I was ready to make this DIY decorative napkin basket!

This decorative napkin basket is easy to make and adds a beautiful touch to your table. #diy #decor Click To Tweet

DIY Decorative Napkin Basket Materials

  • Shallow Basket
  • Acrylic Paint (Apple Barrel Bright Blue pictured)
  • Stencil (I used this Hazel & Ruby Stencil)
  • Clear Coat Super Surface Sealer
  • Metallic Spray Paint

Step 1

Spray your basket with the surface sealer and allow it to dry completely.

Step 2

Cover the entire inside bottom liberally with your acrylic paint.  Let it dry (usually at least 1 hour).

Step 3

Place your stencil over where you have painted and spray with the metallic spray paint.  Allow it to dry completely and add a second coat if needed.  Do this for both sides so that the entire basket is painted, being sure to allow each coat to dry completely before applying more.

Step 4

Spray your sealant, being sure to complete cover the basket (both sides).  Also allow this to dry completely.

This is so super easy to make. Once you’re done you want to have fun summer BBQ just to show it off! Find even more summer ideas here.
