Some days you feel energized, creative, and ready to take on the world. You are Mom. Hear you roar. Of course, other days you wonder if you made the coffee wrong or something because you are dragging. Those days make it tough to spend time with the kids because you are simply exhausted. Today’s kids’ craft is the perfect activity to pull out on the dragging days. This DIY bedroom door sign is easy to make and to clean up. Materials

• Adhesive Foam Sheets
• Foam Letter Stickers
• Foam Smiley Face Stickers

Step 1

First, decide on what the bedroom door sign will say.

Step 2

Next, sort through your foam letter stickers and lay out the ones you need.

Note:

• You may need to adjust our saying if the letters aren’t available, especially when making multiple signs.

Step 3

Before you remove any backing, test the layout of your foam letters until you have the desired alignment.

Tip:

• Take a picture of the alignment with Mom’s phone to have a reference in case it gets bumped or messed up.

Step 4

Remove the sticky backing from your letters and begin placing them on your sign.

Step 5

Continue placing your letter stickers on until your saying is complete.

Step 6

Next, go nuts embellishing the sign with your foam smiley face stickers.

Step 7

Remove the backing on your foam sheet and stick it to the bedroom door.

Extra Tips and Tricks for Mom

1. This craft is easy enough for toddlers to do since it is only placing stickers.
2. I recommend letting older kids pick their sayings first and then letting toddlers just have random letters that are left.
3. Younger kids may need help spelling or getting creative with the letters. For example: a sign saying “Princess X-Ing” instead of “Princess Crossing” will save S stickers.
4. Use a cotton swab soaked in Goo Gone to gently pry it from the door. This prevents paint damage and leftover sticky residue.

See? I told you it doesn’t get much easier than this DIY bedroom door sign. Clean up the sticker backing pieces and you are done. I want to warn you to give the toddler a set amount of stickers in the beginning of the project. If you don’t, he will continue sticking them on until you have a quirky, 3-Dimensional wall sculpture on your hands. It is time for another Creative Play Kit Craft! If you saw Monday’s DIY glittery notebook, then you know that today we’re making these DIY mini pompom monsters. These adorable little guys are inspired by bad mom days. Have you ever been having a bad mom day? The kind of day when you forget to hit start on the coffee maker only to realize it when you go to get a cup of coffee? Have you had the kind of day when you walk into the living room after finish the dishes to see that your toddlers have ripped up all of the tissues? Oh, and tossed them all over the room like snow?

All the while your youngest daughter has been “going potty” and comes out covered in your makeup. On those days you are fuming and feel surrounded by tiny monsters that you created. Then, when you’re ready to break down in tears and wine, they run up to you and throw their arms around your leg. They look up at you with wide, adorable eyes and say, “Mommy, I love you.” That heart-melting moment when you realize that these adorable little monsters are all yours and you wouldn’t change it for the world is what inspired this week’s DIY mini pompom monsters.

Materials

• Large Pompoms
• Googly Eyes
• Chenille Stems
• Scissors
• Liquid Glue
• Adhesive Glitter Foam Sheet

Step 1

Cut off one end of your foam sheet that is roughly 2 inches wide.

Step 2

Next, cut the 2 inch wide piece into thirds.

Step 3

Take one of the thirds and fold it in half.

Step 4

Then cut a heart out of the folded piece.

Step 5

Next, add a generous amount of glue to the point-end of your heart, glitter side up.

Step 6

Firmly press a large pompom on it.

Step 7

Add a generous amount of glue to the back of 2 googly eyes.

Step 8

Stick your 2 eyes to the pompom.

Step 9

Next, fold the end of your chenille stem in on itself for the length that you want the arms to be.

Step 10

Cut it off where the tip of your stem now touches the base of the stem.

Step 11

Now cut at the fold so that you have 2 arms.

Step 12

Twist the end of each arm to form a loop and bend it at a right angle to the arm.

Step 13

Next, curl the opposite end of each arm.

Step 14

Add a generous amount of glue to the loops on each arm.

Step 15

Attach the arms to either side of your pompom.

Step 16

Allow your pompom monsters to dry completely before playing with them.

These DIY mini pompom monsters can be played with as is if your kids can’t wait. However, you can also use them as fun and quirky stickers on notebooks, lunchboxes, and more by removing the backing from the bottom of the foam feet. Another bonus idea for mom: Stick one of these to your vanity, computer, or fridge. Use it as a reminder on the hard mom days that it will pass. Your adorable mini monsters push boundaries because they love you and feel safe enough to do so. Hopefully, one look and you’ll remember that when you’re ready to scream.
