Now you have a beautiful and fun piece of wrist candy! This is so easy to make and a perfect way to celebrate the Halloween season. Bonus points if you pair it with a kitschy Halloween sweater. Don’t forget that if the jack-o-lantern beads are a little too spooky for your tastes change them out for large witch hats or cute spiders. Keep in mind that the size of the beads adjusts the length of the bracelet. If the new beads you choose are significantly smaller than the jack-o-lanterns simply add additional round beads to keep the length.

Patriotic Firecracker Wands

Let’s face it: wands are cool. Whether you are a fairy princess or off to Hogwarts, there is nothing better than twirling that pretty little stick in the air and adding a bit of magic to life. I will be 30 years old this year and I still get giddy when I see a sweet new wand to play with. You may not share my childlike joy of these toys but your kids certainly do. Keep them entertained before the fireworks show with these awesome (and totally shiny) patriotic firecracker wands.

Step 4

Wrap the end of your garland around the end of all 6 strands of ribbon.

Tip:

  • Only wrap the garland once or twice around the ribbon and securely tighten. Next, bed the excess wire (the shorter piece) away from the wrap and towards the shorter end of your ribbon.

Step 5

Slide the end of the strands into the straws up to where they are wrapped (including your garland strand). Add hot glue on the tip of the straw where the strands are inserted.

Step 6

Next, rotate your straw and apply more glue. When you have finished, the entire tip of the straw where the ribbon and garland are inserted should be covered with hot glue.

Step 7

Using the blade edge of your scissors, curl your gift ribbon.

Tip:

How colorful and festive are these little cuties? They are super easy to make and so much fun to play with. Even though it isn’t the fourth yet, I’ve already been twirling them around the house with the kiddos. They are also responsible for the awesome Harry Potter marathon we had last weekend (worth every minute). Make sure that you make enough wands that you can get in on the action. It is such an easy way to connect with your kids. Don’t miss our 4th of July page if you want even more fun patriotic crafts or need some festive food for your celebration!
