I know how scary, stressful, and bewildering it can be to lose sight of who you are. I understand how hard it is when you fee l like you’re having more bad days than good. When you lose sight of yourself, all facets of your life suffer.

You’re more impatient and angry with your kids. You don’t feel like being intimate with your husband. Hanging out with friends becomes a constant complaint session. Self care pretty much goes out the window.

That is a terrifying reality for too many SAHM. If any of these scenarios sound familiar, then this series is for you.

Purpose of the Instagram Challenge

We live in a truly amazing time. The internet makes it easy for SAHM to connect and find community. You no longer have to fall prey to the loneliness and isolation that can come with staying home with your kids.

The purpose of this Instagram challenge is to give you a way to connect with other SAHM going through the same thing you are. You can find your cheerleaders to bolster your efforts. Connect with moms who share your hobbies. Be inspired by the things others are brave enough to try.

This slime recipe is a part of another awesome Movie Monday challenge. We’re getting into the swing of Halloween with classic monster movies this month. I decided to go with a classic this year: the 1958 film The Blob!

I know that the Blob is red, but frankly, red doesn’t glow nearly as well. Also, red slime resembles blood a little too much for me to share it with the kiddos. This green version is a more family-friendly spooky.

Materials for Slime Next to Bowl with Spoon in It

Ingredients

Glue in Bowl next to Elmers Slime Solution

Step 1

Empty your entire container of liquid glue into a small glass bowl.

Step 2

Next, open your mica powder and pour it onto the glue.

Step 3

Mix your mica powder and glue until they are well combined.

Step 4

Then pour in the recommended amount of Elmer’s Slime Solution into the glue and powder mix according to the package instructions.

Step 5

Lastly, stir your mixture until the slime solution is thoroughly incorporated into the glue and powder. It should be slime at this point.

Glow in the Dark Slime Play Idea

We have some fun mini erasers coming in the mail to mix into our slime. I chose this set so that we would have animals, vehicles, and signs to represent that the Blob eats everything it touches.

Set them in a small plastic bin or on the table. Then drag your slime across seeing how many you can pick up with it. It’s a fun new way to play with slime that should definitely create an interesting texture when we’re through.

We had such a blast playing with this DIY green glow in the dark slime in the bathroom. That’s the darkest room of the house. It’s also one of the easiest to clean if things get messy. (You’re welcome.)

Now it’s time to check out all of the other awesome classic monster movie projects in this month’s Movie Monday Challenge. Visit them all and get ready for some great ideas to get you in the Halloween spirit!
