This easy DIY Valentine gift card box can be whipped up quickly to add some pizzazz to your man’s Valentine’s gift. Giving it in something handmade adds a little extra love to your gift almost effortlessly.

Did you miss 15 Totally Awesome Valentine Gifts for Guys last week and wind up buying a gift card at the last minute? Don’t worry. It happens to the best of us. Dress it up a little instead of sticking it in a boring card.

DIY Valentine Gift Card Box Materials

Small Lidded Box Large Enough to Hold a Gift Card (I used one from an old necklace gift)
Pink Tissue Paper
Quick-Dry Tacky Glue
12×12 inch Piece of Cardstock (any style)
Gold Glitter Washi Tape
3-D Valentine Sticker (I got mine at Michaels)
Gift Card

Step 1

Cut your tissue paper into squares.

Tip:

You don’t need much. 1 sheet will be enough. I used the leftovers from making my DIY Monogram Valentine Wreath.

Step 2

Take the lid off of your box and set it to the side.

Step 3

Spread glue on the bottom of your box.

Step 4

Add squares of tissue paper to the glue.

Step 5

Continue covering your box and lid with glue and tissue paper until your entire box is covered.

Tip:

Do not add too many layers. If you do, your lid won’t go back on. Your box will also take longer to dry.

Step 6

Next, allow your box to dry.

Step 7

Add your washi tape to your box so that it looks like a present.

Tip:

Start on the bottom of your box and cover it first. Then add your lid to the top to easily line up the top “ribbons”.

Step 8

Next, add your Valentine sticker to the top, center of your box lid.

Step 9

Now cut a strip of your cardstock that is 1-2 inches wide.

Step 10

Fold your strip of cardstock accordion style so that you have 9 small rectangles.

Step 11

Write your Valentine’s message on the center 7 rectangles (leaving one black at the top and one blank at the bottom). If you want, you can totally steal mine:

Throughout the year

Here’s a gift

To bring you cheer!

Happy

Valentine’s

Day!

Step 12

After you’ve written your Valentine’s message, glue the top blank rectangle to the underside of your lid.

Step 13

Next, glue the bottom blank rectangle to the front of your gift card.

Step 14

Allow your glue to dry.

Step 15

Place your gift card in the bottom of your box with the glued side up.

Step 16

Lastly, place your lid on the box.

We’re back again with another awesome Pokemon Valentine idea! Since so many of you love the Recycled Pokeball Valentine Box and because my oldest still loves all things Pokemon, I’ve created another fun DIY for you. These DIY Pokemon card Valentines are easy to make and candy-free! Your little Pokemon trainer will be ecstatic to help you make these for his or her school Valentine’s party. DIY Pokemon Card Valentines Materials

Set of 12 Red Bi-fold Cards (Mine were in a Multipack from Michaels)
Paper Cutter
12×12 inch Sheet of Black Cardstock
Glue Runner
Compass
Black Marker
Pokemon Cards

Step 1

Fold your card inside out so that the white is on the outside.

Step 2

Turn your card so that the folded side is at the bottom.

Step 3

Cut your card in half down the center so that you have 2 smaller folded cards.

Note:

Set one card to the side.

Step 4

Next, cut the top half off of the front flap of your card. When folded, your card should now be half red and half white from the front.

Note:

Set aside the piece you cut off for later in the project.

Step 5

Now cut a 1.5 inch strip from your black cardstock.

Step 6

Trim the strip of black cardstock to the width of your card.

Step 7

Attach your black strip to the white flap on the front of your card so that half of it overlaps the red.

Note:

Do not add glue to the red portion of your card.

Step 8

Next, grab the piece of your card that you cut off in step 4 and draw a circle on it with your compass.

Tip:

Do this on the red side so that your pencil marks do not show in the finished product.

Step 9

Cut out your circle and trace around the edges of the white side with your black marker.

Step 10

Attach your circle to the center of your black strip.

Step 11

Next, carefully add glue to the inside edges of your card.

Note:

The width of your glue runner will be too big to leave a large enough pocket for your Pokemon card. Place your card on a piece of scrap paper and run your glue runner so that only ¼ of the glue is on the card edges.

Step 12

Now, write “I Choose You” in the center of your circle with your black marker.

Step 13

Next, write “From” and draw a line at the bottom of your card for your kid to sign.

Step 14

Repeat steps 1-14 until you have made enough cards for your child’s class.

Step 15

Lastly, open a pack of Pokemon cards and add one to each Valentine.

Now your child will have an awesome, unique Valentine to hand out at his or her party this year. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that your kid will get to keep any of the extra Pokemon cards (sorry, Mom). It’s also a fantastic alternative to candy Valentines. Pair these DIY Pokemon card Valentines with this recycled Pokeball Valentine Box to complete the whole theme. How to Add Pops of Color to Your Winter Décor

Throw Pillows

Throw pillows are an easy way to add pops of color to your décor. You can find them in thousands of colors and styles to fit your décor and your mood. I love this family rules pillow from Shutterfly! Personalize it with your family name and throw it in a comfy chair. You have just created a bright and cheerful reading nook to relax in! It doesn’t get much easier than that.

Mantel

Don’t forget to dress up your mantel, too. This is one of the easiest areas of your home to add some color to. Be creative when choosing items and layer sizes to create visual interest. Here are some awesome ideas for what to add to your mantel:

Paintings/Pictures – Your child’s artwork can totally be utilized as mantel décor. Throw it in a frame and display it proudly. Your kids will love being included in your decorating!

Toys – I collect unique and nerdy toys that absolutely deserved to be displayed. I don’t recommend using your kids’ toys because they will likely try to scale your fireplace to play with them.

Candles – These are another super easy way to add color to your décor. Up your décor personalization with colorful candles that display family photos. The awesome ones in the photos came from Shutterfly and are beautiful. They also smell incredible which makes me one happy momma.

Fabric – You can totally swag some colorful fabric across your mantel and then add your décor pieces on top. This adds additional depth and color to your home instantly.

Bookshelves

Bookshelves aren’t just for books! Even if your shelves are packed to the brim with books, like mine, you can add some pops of color. Add some colorful toys or trinkets in front of your books. For some reason our family has an excess of fun banks. These make fantastic decorative pieces.

Tip:

Don’t overload your shelves or they will look cluttered. Stick with 2-3 items per shelf grouped in a corner.

Wall Art

This is another fast and easy way to add some color to your winter décor. You can purchase your favorite family photo on a canvas from Shutterfly to display on your wall year-round.
