Even though I rarely wear jewelry, I still love a beautiful piece. When you wear pieces so rarely, it becomes something special that you do for yourself. Even adding a simple statement necklace to jeans and tee-shirt can boost your self esteem quickly and easily.

That’s why I think all moms should learn to make their own jewelry. Simple designs are best when you’re just starting out. Luckily, that’s exactly what this DIY druzy jewelry set is. There’s no complicated measuring or creations. Simple thread and glue and you’re done.

Pink Druzy Jewelry Set

Before you get started with jewelry making, you need to invest in a small tool set. I love and use this one from Bead Landing. It’s inexpensive but has everything you need to get started. Keep your tools together in a small bag or plastic box so that they don’t get mixed up with your other tools. I recommend using your jewelry tools only for creating, not on any household project or improvements.

Step 1

First, open and un-string your natural stone beads.

Step 2

Then choose two of the smallest natural stone beads and glue them to the earring posts with E6000. The stones are heavy. That is why you want the smallest ones in the set otherwise the earrings may be too heavy.

Step 3

Set the earrings aside to dry for at least 24 hours. Make sure they are stable during drying so that the beads don’t slide off.

Tip:

Step 4

Next, cut a small length of wire and thread it through the hole in a third natural stone bead. The size of this one isn’t important. Choose the largest for a statement pendant or another small one for a daintier jewelry set.

Step 5

Then wrap the wire around itself as pictured to create an attachment for your jump ring. If there is any excess, trim it off with the wire cutters in your jewelry tool set.

Step 6

Open your jump ring with pliers from your jewelry tool set.

Of everything that could drive you crazy about being a mom, it’s always the little things that seem to be the worst, right? For me, it’s the kiddos messing up my lip balm. I don’t mind them using it if they ask and then hand it back to me to close when they’re done. Of course, that’s not how it goes most of the time.

My kids are constantly getting into my lip balm in my purse. I get super annoyed grabbing my Burt’s Bees and finding it messy and destroyed because little hands got to it. Part of the problem is they don’t twist the balm back down after they use it. Instead, they smash the lid back on and slip it into my bag.

These candy flavored homemade lip glosses are stored in small lidded pots instead of twist tubes. That makes them more kid friendly plus the containers are reusable. No more destroyed lip balm in your purse. Let your kiddos have their own lip gloss and leave yours alone.

Block of Melt and Pour Goats Milk Soap

Step 1

First, measure out 4.5 oz. of your soap base.

Shredded Goats Milk Soap

I use an old cheese grater to grate my soap base so that it melts more quickly. This also makes it much easier to get the exact amount that you need.

Step 2

Next, place your 4.5 oz. of soap base into your pouring pot.

Step 3

Then measure out 2 oz. of unrefined shea butter and add it into your pouring pot as well.

Step 4

Add a half inch of water to a sauce pot and bring it to a boil.

"

Step 5

After your water is boiling, turn the heat down to medium and place your filled pouring pot inside.

Step 6

Next, melt your soap base and shea butter, stirring frequently.

Step 7

Once your soap and shea butter are melted, add in .1 oz of orange mica powder (or whatever color you want) and stir until combined.

Note:

If you use the set that I link to above, that’s an entire bag.

Step 8

Next, stir in 10-15 drops of orange essential oil.

Step 9 (Optional)

Place your sticks in place on your mold.

Tips:

Step 10

Now, pour your melted base into your molds. Again, if not using the sticks, only fill them about halfway (just to the bottom of the stick opening).

Step 11

Add the lid to your mold to protect your soaps while they cool.

Step 12

Lastly, after your soaps have cooled completely, remove them from the molds and wrap in cellophane to gift!

You can absolutely freeze these if necessary to ensure that they come cleanly out of the molds. Let them cool about 20 minutes before freezing so that bubbles and other imperfections can settle beforehand.
