We don’t take down our Halloween decor until November 1st and Christmas goes up the day after Thanksgiving. That doesn’t leave a lot of time for Thanksgiving decorations. In fact, one year I think we hosted Thanksgiving dinner with all of our Christmas decorations already up.

This year I’m trying to be a little nicer to poor Thanksgiving by giving it a few weeks of dedicated decor. I’ll be sharing some of the fun projects with you starting in November but until then, here are some additional awesome decor ideas to get you started.

I absolutely love mushrooms and portobello mushrooms are my absolute fave. I love them on pizza, sandwiches, in pasta… there pretty much isn’t a savory food I won’t eat them with.

Unfortunately, my kiddos don’t feel quite the same as I do. That means when I make delicious recipes like this one, they end up being all mine.

Pro parenting tip: want to make sure you actually get some of the pizza? Stick some mushrooms on it and the kids won’t go near it. You’re welcome.

Luckily, even if you’re the only one in your family that likes mushrooms, this rich and decadent sauteed portobello mushrooms recipe is super quick and easy. You won’t feel like you’re spending all of your time in the kitchen for a dish your family won’t even eat.

Sauteed Portobello Mushrooms Ingredients

Step 1

First, coat your pan in oil and heat it over medium heat.

While your oil heats, dice your onion and add it to the pan.

Next, rinse and slice your portobello mushrooms.

Continue cooking your onions until they turn translucent then add in your butter and sliced mushrooms.

Continue cooking over medium-high heat for 2 more minutes then remove from heat and serve.

Decadent Sauteed Portobello Mushrooms Recipe
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 8-oz. Container of Baby Portobello Mushrooms
  • 1 Medium Vidalia Onion
  • Small Amount of Oil (Enough to Coat the Pan)
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • Pinch of Salt and Pepper
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

  1. First, coat your pan in oil and heat it over medium heat.
  2. While your oil heats, dice your onion and add it to the pan.
  3. Next, rinse and slice your portobello mushrooms.
  4. Continue cooking your onions until they turn translucent then add in your butter and sliced mushrooms.
  5. Turn the heat up to medium-high and stir your mushrooms and onions frequently while the mushrooms cook down.
  6. After your mixture has cooked down, stir in your salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Continue cooking over medium-high heat for 2 more minutes then remove from heat and serve.
