Kids and adults will have a blast shaking these babies all night. If you plan on making many of these favors, I recommend purchasing a set of chipboard arrows to make your life easier. Arrows allow you to skip step 5. Multiple arrow sizes also allow you to skip the trimming in step 9. Simply pair a longer arrow with a shorter arrow for each noise maker and you are good to go. Come back next week for even more DIY New Years ideas!

Glittery Winter Woodland Tree

This tree has a beautiful mix of felt ornaments, natural elements, and glitter accents. The “topper” is actually an oversized twig star with Santa on it. Instead of hanging pinecones, we bought a bag of the cinnamon scented ones. Those are tucked into the branches for a natural element that smells incredible. It all adds up to a gorgeous tree that both grandma and the grandkids love.

What is the last rule of decorating the tree at grandmas? You have to wear a Santa hat while you’re decorating. That’s how the tree gets its Christmas magic.

Why I Love Christmas

You might wonder why I would willingly decorate multiple trees during such a busy time of year. It is because I truly love and believe in the spirit of Christmas. Every year I see people transform into more patient and thoughtful citizens. I see children that still believe in magic light up at every Santa they see. Yes, you will still have some who are mean and hateful but they are far outweighed by kindness and joy. Christmas isn’t about the gifts or chaos of gatherings. It is about spreading joy and keeping magic alive. Decorating my mom’s tree brings her great joy and that is worth making time for.
