In case you haven’t noticed, I’m all about super simple recipes and after my Crock Pot, my oven is my next best friend. Making baked versions of traditionally fried foods is what I’m all about.
In addition to that, of course, is a love of football. We love enjoying finger foods on game day but that doesn’t mean I want to spend all morning stinking up the house with oily mess. Instead, we marry the two with easy recipes like these homemade baked fried pickle spears.
If you love the flavors but hate the mess (and the smell) of those game day favorites, then you will love this delicious and crunchy appetizer!
Baked Fried Pickle Spears Ingredients
- 24 oz. Jar of Dill Pickle Spears
- 2 Eggs
- 1 cup Corn Meal
- 1 tbsp. Garlic Pepper Seasoning (make sure to use one without added salt)
- 1/2 tsp. Additional Black Pepper
Note:
- These don’t require any additional salt because the pickles are already salty enough.
Step 1
First, preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2
Then, remove all of your pickle spears from the jar and set on some paper towels to dry.
Step 3
While your pickles dry, whisk your 2 eggs together.
Step 4
Next, add your corn meal and seasoning to a bowl and mix together.
Step 5
After your pickles are dry, dip them in the eggs then coat with your corn meal mixture.
Step 6
Place each coated pickle on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Step 7
Once all of your pickles are coated and on the baking sheet, bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Turn them halfway through baking, about the 10 minute mark.
Serve your homemade baked fried pickle spears with ranch dressing for dipping and you’re good to go! These are best served hot but that’s not a problem since they’re snatched up almost immediately. These are the perfect appetizer to munch on while you root for your team during game days or for your next party!
