After our grocery freeze earlier this year I’ve been trying to buy only food needed for our meal plan. It has been fantastic because it means less food waste. (If you haven’t tried a grocery freeze yet, you should totally check it out.) This new method of shopping has a small downside. Earlier this week we still had one day until grocery day and we were out of breakfast food. Instead of running out to buy something I decided to surprise the kids with donuts. Of course, in full pumpkin mode still, these easy homemade pumpkin spice donuts were created using staples we already had.
Pumpkin Spice Donuts Ingredients
- 29 oz. Can Pumpkin Puree
- 14 oz. Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
- ½ Cup Sugar
- 1 Large Egg
- ½ tbsp. Baking Soda
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- ½ tbsp. Cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
Glaze Icing Ingredients
- 2 Cups Powder Sugar
- 3 tbsp. Milk
Mint Chocolate Icing Ingredients
- ½ Cup Dark Chocolate Mint Candy Melts
- 3-4 tbsp. Milk
Pre-heat your oven to 350º F.
Mix all of your donut ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
Grease and flour your donut pan.
Add your donut batter to a gallon re-sealable bag and close it.
Snip the corner of your bag off.
Pipe the batter into your donut pan.
- Only pipe a single circle of batter into the cavities. Do not fill them to capacity.
Bake donuts at 350º F for 14-15 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
Transfer the donuts to a cooling rack to cool.
Add powder sugar and milk to a small bowl.
Next, whisk your ingredients together to form icing.
- If your icing is too runny, add some more powder sugar to your mix.
- If it is too stiff, add more milk to your mix.
Pour icing over your pumpkin spice donuts.
Add chocolate melts and milk to a microwave safe bowl.
Microwave the bowl on high in 30 second increments until melted.
Stir icing and dip your donuts in it to ice them.
These easy homemade pumpkin spice donuts are delicious. Your kids will be begging you to make these every weekend!
