It is time to start getting ready for Independence Day. We love celebrating the holiday with family and part of that celebration is festive decorations. That’s why this year I came up with this DIY stars and stripes centerpiece. It is the perfect easy decoration for your 4th of July celebration. It is great to dress up a folding table or your party buffet. When you get your supplies at the links provided below you will have enough supplies to make 12 centerpieces. Plan your orders according to the size of your party. Don’t worry, though. They are incredibly easy to make even if you need a lot of them for your get together.

First cut 4 strips of blue curling ribbon that are 10 inches long each.
Repeat step 1 with the red and white curling ribbon.
Next, curl all of your ribbon strips by pulling each one across your scissor blade.
Cut a small piece of wire garland and set it to the side.
Then align curled your curled ribbons with 2 of each color facing right and 2 of each color facing left.
While pinching your ribbons together, wrap your cut piece of wire garland tightly around them. Twist the ends to secure them into place.
Next, push one of your star kabobs through the wrapped wire garland.
Continue sliding your ribbons up until they rest just under the star.
Trim 3 inches off of the end of your kabob stick.
Now, repeat steps 1 through 9 to create a second ribbon stick.
Assemble you pinwheel and trim 2 inches off of the end of the handle.
Next, press the bottom of your pail into your floral foam.
Then use your scissors to cut the imprint from your foam.
- Use one blade of the scissors like a knife to make this step easier.
Put your cut out piece of foam in the bottom of your pail and stick your pinwheel into the foam.
Fill in any gaps in the bottom of your pail with extra pieces of floral foam.
Next, place your star ribbon sticks at an angle to the left and right of your pinwheel.
Put a coffee filter in your pail in front of the pinwheel and star ribbon sticks.
Lastly, put a second coffee filter in your pail behind the pinwheel and star ribbon sticks.

I’m a nerdy, crafty mom of three adorable little kids. I love writing and creating, but in my non-existent free time I also love karaoke, taking my kids to the zoo, and reading. I got my degree in Science (no idea how that happened) but I took every English class I could get my hands on because, yeah, I’m that girl.
