Step 1

Remove the packaging from your canvas.

Step 2

Mix some red and white paint together until you get your desired color of pink. I went for a gorgeous hot pink but you can choose what shade fits your style.

Step 3

Cover your entire canvas thickly with the pink paint. Do not let dry before moving on to the next steps.

Step 4

Immediately add some drops of white paint at random places on your canvas and brush into streaks.

Tip:

  • Do not over-brush it or it will blend with the pink paint.

Step 5

Next, add yellow to your pink paint (not on your canvas) and mix to get an orange shade.

Dip your brush into the orange paint and carefully add orange streaks randomly to your painting.

Step 7

Put 2-3 dots of red paint onto your canvas and streak it as you did with the white paint in step 4.

Step 8

Allow the paint to dry completely.

Tip:

  • This will take a few hours because of the thick amounts of paint added. I recommend allowing your canvas to dry overnight.

Step 9

After your painting has dried, add your foil adhesive in random streaks across your canvas.

Note:

  • Do not cover the entire canvas.

Step 13

Again, gently, brush the excess foil off of your canvas with the dry paint brush.

Tip:

  • This will be messy so I recommend doing it on a surface covered with newspaper to make cleanup easier.

Add your letter “M” to the center of your painting.

Tip:

  • If you have trouble getting it to stick, add some Mod Podge to the back of it before attaching.

Step 18 (Optional)

Add a sealing coat of Mod Podge to your entire canvas.

Your wall art is finished as soon as your sealing coat is dry. If you would like, you can cover the edges of your canvas with paint. You can also get it framed to finish it off. I like the raw edges of the canvas and intend to keep it that way. As always, do what fits your style. You can also find more DIY ideas to improve your space on the Home Décor page!
