Ever since seeing the Trolls movie I am even more obsessed with rainbows and glitter and so are my kids. It’s no surprise that when deciding on class Valentines this year my oldest immediately started brainstorming Trolls-themed ones. Trolls love glitter, rainbows, and scrapbooking. These DIY rainbow notebook Valentines have it all covered! The only way they could channel any more awesome Troll energy would be if they sang when you opened them. Alas, we haven’t quite mastered that one but maybe your child could sing while handing them out to classmates. Either way, kids will love receiving these Valentines and parents will love one less piece of candy coming home from school that day.
These notebooks are such a great quality! When you’re getting small notebooks you expect them to be a little flimsy and flexible. I was so surprised to find these notebooks had thick, almost canvas-like, covers that were incredibly sturdy. That makes them perfect for crafting with because they will hold up to glue, paint, and more.
- Set of 12 Blank Notebooks
- Roll of Rainbow Ducktape
- Adhesive Foam Conversation Hearts
- Pack of Glitter Glue
- Set of Valentine’s Ribbon
- 12 Colorful Graphite Pencils
Cut a strip of rainbow Ducktape that is 1 inch longer that the height of your notebook.
Place the strip of tape centered on the right side of your front cover.
- Leave a small amount of the cover on the right. See the picture above for reference.
Wrap the overhanging edges of tape over the edges of the notebook cover and secure on the back.
Select 3 foam conversation hearts, 1 large and 2 small, each in a different color.
First, attach the large conversation heart in the center of the white space on the cover.
Next, attach the 2 smaller conversation hearts above and below the larger one.
Trace the letters on the large conversation heart with glitter glue.
Allow the glitter glue to dry before moving on.
Cut a strip of ribbon that is roughly the length of your pencil.
Next, tape the ribbon to the end of your pencil with the rainbow Ducktape.
Secure the loose end of the ribbon to the notebook by tying it loosely around the spirals.
- Make sure that it is loose enough not to pull the wire spirals out of shape.
Slide the pencil into the spiral binding.
Repeat steps 1 through 12 for your remaining notebooks.
